Hundreds of “Red Cards” Against Swiss’s Wage Policy!
After the Swiss management unilaterally broke off the wage negotiations with the ground staff unions on 9 November, SEV-GATA launched the protest letter "Not like this! – Red card for Swiss and immediate resumption of wage negotiations with the trade unions!" Within a few days, over 400 employees signed the protest letter. Today, an SEV-GATA delegation handed over the signatures in the form of over 400 red cards to Swiss HR Director Christina Trelle.
The staff's message to the management is clear: To deny full compensation for inflation despite record profits is an affront to the employees who have shown enormous loyalty to the company during the pandemic and the subsequent ramp up. For example, employees still have to work many hours of overtime to compensate for the staff shortage caused by the management with the unnecessary mass dismissal of May 2021.
"We expect HR management to express the will to come back to the negotiating table on the occasion of the forthcoming discussion between the social partners next Thursday, 30 November," says SEV-GATA President Philipp Hadorn, adding: "The mutual goal must be to negotiate a wage round that does justice to the employees' performance and cost of living. A clear sign of appreciation such as this is the only way for Swiss to sustain its renewed success streak.
